How to Install Mods in Payday 3
This guide explains how to install mods in Payday 3. Keep in mind that this guide is for the PC version of Payday 3, whether you’re using Steam or the Epic Games Store. Follow the three simple steps below to install mods.
Step 1: Launch Options
For Steam Users:
- Open your Steam Library.
- Find Payday 3, right-click it, and select Properties.
- In the General tab, locate Launch Options and type -fileopenlog without spaces.
- Close the window once done.
For Epic Games Store Users:
The process is very similar to the Steam version. Follow these steps:
- Right-click Payday 3 in your Epic Games Store library.
- Select Manage.
- Scroll down to Launch Options and enable it using the toggle.
- Type -fileopenlog without spaces in the text field.

Step 2: Payday 3 Directory
In this step, you will create a mods folder inside the Payday 3 directory.
For Steam and Epic Games Store:
- Open the Payday 3 installation directory:
- Steam: Open the game’s properties, go to Installed Files, and click Browse.
- Epic Games Store: Right-click Payday 3, select Manage, and click the folder icon under Installation.
- Navigate to Content and then open the Paks folder.
- If a mods folder does not exist, create a new folder and name it ~mods.

Step 3: Install Mods
For Steam and Epic Games Store:
- Download your desired mods from the Mod Workshop website.
- If the mod is downloaded as a ZIP file, extract it using WinRAR or 7-Zip.
- After extracting, locate the .pak file and move it into the ~mods folder inside the Payday 3 directory.
