Hikaru & Kaoru Hitachiin

They are probably the most recognizable and popular twins on this list, mainly because the show itself is extremely popular and considered a must-watch anime. Can you tell which one is Hikaru and which one is Kaoru? No? Don’t worry—neither can most people. Not even their own family members (except their parents) or friends can tell them apart, except for the show’s main protagonist, Fujioka Haruhi.
Hikaru and Kaoru are both playful and act and sound almost exactly the same, which makes it difficult for others to distinguish them. However, their personalities are very different. Hikaru is more immature and mistrustful, while Kaoru is more considerate and noticeably kinder, even though Hikaru is the older twin.

Rem & Ram

Unlike the Hitachiin brothers, these two are much easier to tell apart due to their different hair colors. Both wear maid outfits, but Rem has blue hair with her ribbon on the left side, while Ram has pink hair with her ribbon on the right. Ram is the older twin.
Their personalities are also very different. Ram is more distrustful toward the main character, Natsuki Subaru, and is clumsy in most tasks except cooking. Rem, on the other hand, is skilled, graceful, and excels at both cooking and cleaning.
They care deeply for each other, likely due to their shared past. Both work as servants for Roswaal L. Mathers in his mansion.

Yukio & Rin Okumura

Although they look nothing alike, Yukio and Rin Okumura are twins born from the same mother. Rin is the younger twin with demonic powers and blue flames, while Yukio is the older, human brother. Despite being twins, their personalities are complete opposites.
Yukio is serious, studious, and dependable, while Rin is reckless and frequently gets into fights. Yukio often patches Rin up after fights and chose to become an exorcist to protect his younger brother. Rin, in turn, is proud of Yukio’s achievements.

Mairu and Kururi appear in the second season, Durarara!! x2. They look very similar, but their clothing makes it easy to tell them apart. Unlike the Hitachiin twins, they don’t mimic each other’s actions or speech.
Mairu is energetic and outgoing, while Kururi is shy and quiet. Despite their differences, they are very close and are almost always seen together. They are not particularly close to their older brother, Izaya Orihara, and seem perfectly comfortable without him.

Although they look identical, Hideyoshi is male and Yuuko is female. They attend the same school but are placed in different classes. Hideyoshi is in Class 2-F, considered the worst class, while Yuuko is in Class 2-A, the best class. Yuuko is older by three minutes.
Yuuko excels academically and ranks among the top students, while Hideyoshi struggles in school. However, Hideyoshi is better at acting and is more popular, receiving multiple confessions each month. Their sibling rivalry is constant, but they still manage to get along at times.

Kagami & Tsukasa Hiiragi

The twins look similar, but their hair length makes them easy to distinguish. Kagami, the older twin, has long hair, while Tsukasa has short hair. They attend the same school but are in different classes.
Tsukasa is clumsy, gentle, and fits the “moe” archetype, while Kagami is more boyish, a bit tsundere, and performs well academically. Kagami often helps Tsukasa with homework, and their relationship is warm and supportive.
