30+ Tips to Class Gadgets in Battlefield 2042

In this guide, you will get more than 30 useful tips for Class Gadgets in Battlefield 2042. These tips focus on how each gadget works, when to use it, and how to get the most value from them during a match.

Class Gadgets

Class gadgets are unique pieces of equipment that can only be used by their respective classes. They are no longer shared across all classes. During a match, your class gadget appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Press the D-pad on consoles or controllers, or press 5 on PC to activate it.

Med Pen (Assault Class)

The Med Pen is the class gadget for the Assault class. It allows you to quickly heal yourself after taking damage. Once you lose health, the Med Pen becomes available. If you take 35 damage or more, a self-heal message appears on the screen.

After activation, it takes one second to start healing and restores 35 HP per second. You can interrupt the healing at any time to shoot your weapon. If interrupted, healing will continue from where it stopped when you activate it again. The Med Pen can only be used after taking damage.

You can resupply the Med Pen from med crates, ammo crates, or Angel’s Loadout Drop.

Repair Tool (Engineer Class)

The Repair Tool is used by the Engineer class to repair friendly vehicles and deployable gadgets. It can also be used offensively to damage enemy vehicles.

To repair a vehicle, stand near it and hold the trigger button. The repair tool can be used for about 8 seconds before overheating, followed by a cooldown of around 3 seconds. You earn 20 XP every three seconds while repairing.

If you play as Crawford, you can repair vehicles faster when they are below 25% health. This bonus only applies until the vehicle reaches 25% health again, so keep an eye on the health bar.

Vehicles that need repairs show a small tool icon above them. Drivers are notified when you begin repairing. Using smoke grenades or smoke launcher attachments is recommended to protect yourself while repairing.

Repairing air vehicles is easier from the passenger seat, allowing you to fix them from inside. The Repair Tool is also useful for weekly missions, repairing Ranger robot dogs, and other deployable gadgets.

Defibrillator (Support Class)

The Defibrillator is the Support class gadget and allows you to revive downed teammates. There are two revive methods available.

Interaction Revive: Walk up to a downed teammate and press the interact button. This always revives teammates with full health.

Manual Defibrillator Revive: Equip the Defibrillator and hold the trigger to charge it. A charge indicator appears on screen.

A full charge revives teammates with 100 health, while a quick tap revives them with 25 health. Manual revives are safer in dangerous situations when enemies are nearby.

Downed teammates are marked with an icon, and you can ping them to let them know you are coming for a revive.

The Defibrillator can also be used offensively. A quick trigger tap deals 100 damage, which can help in close-range encounters.

Insertion Beacon (Recon Class)

The Insertion Beacon is the Recon class gadget. It provides an additional spawn point for you and your squad members.

You and your squad can spawn on the beacon up to four times before it is destroyed. Squad members cannot spawn on each other’s beacons. You can only have one beacon active at a time.

If you switch classes, your beacon is destroyed. Enemies can also locate and destroy it. The beacon can be resupplied from normal ammo crates.

You earn a small amount of XP every time a squadmate spawns on your beacon. Be careful with placement, as the beacon does not protect players from spawning into active gunfights.
